4 Ways to Get Organized

Do You Need Help Getting Organized?

One of the best ways to stay positive when in school or at work is to get organized. Staying organized can allow you to become more effective and efficient in your collegiate and professional careers. Here are a few helpful tips to assist you in becoming more organized.

Google Calendar

Google Calendar, or any other web-based calendar, allows you to put important dates and events in your calendar that will remind you when it's time to do something. It also makes it easier to look up the information because it can be pulled up on any electronic device that can connect to the internet and/or be linked directly to you cell phone.

Daily Planner
This is for the people who still like to have things written down with pen and paper. This tool is best for writing down deadlines and easy access to view what deadlines are coming up. It also makes it easier for you to write down benchmarks on larger scale projects and assess your progress towards completing that task. It is easier to customize by drawing arrows, circles, highlighting, etc.

Separate Notebooks

Multi-subject notebooks can be beneficial to some, but from my experience and from talking to other current and former students, having those separate notebooks allows for a clean separation of coursework. This way you are not commingling your notes from difference subjects which can cause confusion and frustration. Separate notebooks for each class makes it easier to focus on one subject at a time, which in turn, will make it easier to comprehend the notes that were taken.

Accordion Folder
These folders are beneficial for a successful student and professional. One of the best usages of this folder is when you are writing a large research paper. The individual sections allow you to separate you materials in different sections, but also keeping it all together in one location. These folders are also great for categorizing information when working on different projects. The color-coded tabs makes it easy to identify the information you are looking for without going through each individual section of the folder.
These are a few helpful tips to get you started to become more organized. What tools and tips can you provide that makes the transition to becoming more organized successful?
